Magical day with Unicorns!

Hi everyone

I’ve had a nice couple of weeks off work and now coming back to reality with a bump! It was so nice to have some time off to relax and spend time with family and friends. I went to a few National Trust sites (historical buildings/garden for non-UK readers!), had afternoon tea, celebrated some birthdays, and went Mountain Biking for the first time with my Springer Spaniel, who loved the freedom and the speed! I also managed to get some gardening and crafting done.

As promised I’m bringing you another unicorn today. Once I got started with them I couldn’t stop! I’m addicted to the bright colours and fun theme.

For this one I wanted to make something a little different so decided to create a stitched pocket for the sentiment, and who doesn’t love a bit of bling!

Yellow and orange are not colours I tend to go automatically for when I’m crafting, so I have had to step out of my comfort zone slightly.  I’m loving the new ‘in colour’ that’s used on this card, Pineapple Punch, isn’t it beautiful?! The new ink pads are so nice to stamp with, no more inky fingers opening them!

My Christmas challenge

Yes I’m using the dirty word! At New Year I challenged myself to make a Christmas card a week so that I’m not panicking when the festivities roll around.  As expected I’m failing miserably at this! So I thought I’d mention it here so I have to be accountable and prove I’ve made this week’s card.  So far I’m 17 cards behind (ONLY!) so watch this space for progress updates! Why not join me and share your creations with me on my Facebook or Instagram page #samscraftythings

Magical Unicorns!

Hi everyone!

Today I’m sharing a card using my FAVOURITE stamp set (which is retiring…boo!!), in fact I have a few more to share with you over forthcoming blog posts! 🙂

Anyone who knows me will know how obsessed I am with unicorns, so this stamp was the obvious choice for me when I was wanting to make a few cards ready to send out to friends and family. I decided to play about with the Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Pencils and created the mane by using Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, and Bermuda Bay. I the created the shading with Basic Grey (although slightly overdid it!).

The background was created by sponging Melon Mambo on to the card stock, ensuring that I started on a piece of grip paper first to remove any dark ink blotches. I then gradually extended the colour further up the card until I was happy with the end result.

The ‘One of a Kind’ colour was created using the Stampin’ Up! Stampin’ Write Markers, by starting with the lightest colour and then quickly scribbling over with the two darker colours.

I hope you like today’s card.

InspireINK blog hop!

Hi everyone!

Happy New Year! The start of the year has been crazy busy for me and I’ve not had chance to do any crafting! I’ve had to force myself to have an evening in the craft room to get the project ready for the new and improved blog hop! You may remember that I said the format of the Simply Sketched Saturday challenge would be changing, well here we are! I’ve had fun creating the new graphics and introducing new members to the group, as well as continuing on with many familiar faces!

The theme this month was Shimmer, Sparkle, and Shine.  What can I say, glitter is not just for Christmas!

I had this idea in my head when I saw the Myths and Magic DSP and knew I wanted to create a game with it. The first idea I had was to create the card game “snap!”.

The images are so cute! Someone said to me that they were in the style of the Disney Sleeping Beauty film, and I have to agree!

I had to make sure the backs were identical so there’s no cheating!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the blog hop today, your next stop is the lovely Jill Chapman.

Flamingo Thank You using Stampin’ Up! Products

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share with you this cute thank you card I made for a special friend of mine.

I recently went up to stay with her for the weekend and she always makes me feel so welcome so I wanted to show my gratitude.

How adorable are those Flamingo’s! or as my friends daughter calls them, ‘Mingo’s’!

I cut out one Flamingo, a water image, and a grass image, and stuck them to the cards using Dimensionals to create the 3D effect. I then topped the water image with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to create the glossy shine to the water.

I wanted to make the inside of the card match the outside, and the sentiment, I think, matches my friends personality!

Apologies for my absence of late, I’ve been really struggling to get into the crafting mindset and have numerous projects in my office that I’ve started but not found the inspiration to finish.  I’m very lucky though that my boyfriend is encouraging and is inspiring me to be more creative, so hopefully the crafters’ block will pass quickly!

My Project 6-001

Hi everyone!

We decided to mix it up a bit this month and go for a colour challenge rather than a sketch, and the lovey Hannah gave us these to play around with…

I love that Hannah has pushed us out of our comfort zone with this one.  I knew straight away which stamp set I wanted to use, especially with Bushing Bride featuring…

Aren’t these pigs just the cutest! We saw them in Convention back in April and lets just say there was nearly a scuffle when it came to Prize Patrol!

I hope you like my project today.  Please do continue along the hop by clicking Previous to go to Sally, or forward to go to Angelina.

Thanks for stopping by!
