Hi everyone

Hope you’re enjoying the last of the weekend, I know I am! Thought I’d share with you today a mini box of cards that I made, this is based upon a set given in the Stampin’ Up! Regional Training.

Absolutely love the two tags die cut but unfortunately it has been retired and is out of stock 😦

Birthday birds

Hi everyone

Wednesday was my lovely friend Lynda’s birthday, she’s bright and funny so I thought her birthday card should reflect some of her personality.

Here’s the finished article

Bird in cage birthday

I used Stampin’ Ups! Aviary stamp set, along with A Word For You stamp set, both sets are being retired on 30 June 2013 so if you like them and you want to get your hands on them too you can contact me at smudgecrafts@yahoo.co.uk, the order numbers for the two sets are “A Word For You – 117032 wooden £19.95 – clear has now sold out, and Aviary – 116956 wooden £21.95 or 120462 clear £17.95.

The card base was Very Vanilla which isn’t leaving us and is still available! I made the greeting tag using Very Vanilla with a strip of Regal Rose behind it, Regal Rose is the only brights colour to be retired and has sold out in the individual packs but you can still get the brights collection of A4 papers (2 of each colour) at £6.25 code 121698, 12″x12” has sold out. The Scallops Dots Ribbon was added as an extra bit of colour for the card, this ribbon set is unfortunately being retired as well but is still available if you’re quick! It’s available in Basic Black 124145, Cherry Cobbler 124138, Chocolate Chip 124142, Elegant Eggplant 124143, Marina Mist 122286, Melon Mambo (shown) 122985, More Mustard 124140, Old Olive 124139, Pretty in Pink 124141, Tangerine Tango 123144.

Now, you may have noticed the flower embellishment on the top right corner….this is actually a sneak peek into what’s coming in the new catalogue! Unfortunately I cannot share the product details until 01 July but I am allowed to show you the finished article….

Build a bird card

Hi all!

As promised here’s my first official Stampin’ Up! card, decided to give a brief tutorial with it, hope it helps…!

I started by cutting an A4 piece of ‘Very Vanilla’ in half (14.85cm) and then scoring it on a score board to create a card blank.

I wanted to use the colours ‘Rich Razzleberry’ and ‘Melon Mambo’ as the primary colours with the addition of ‘Old Olive’.

So, my next move was to stamp the ‘Blissful Bird’ image onto some white card stock, I did this by using the ‘Brights Stampin’ Write’ pens in ‘Melon Mambo’ for the birds wing, the birds body with ‘Rich Razzleberry’ and the twig with ‘Old Olive’ and ‘Early Expresso’

And I then used the ‘Builder Bird Punch’ (117191) to punch the image out to create 3 separate elements.

Once this was done I decided to layer up a couple of strips of card stock on the card blank, this was done by measuring two strips of the ‘Razzle Raspberry’ and ‘Melon Mambo’ 14.8cm x 1.5cm and then using the ‘Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue’ I glued and attached the strips to the card blank and added an additional strip of ‘Melon Mambo Scalloped Dots Ribbon’ (122985)

I then glued the bird to the card and stamped the ‘A Word for You stamp set – Happy Birthday with a cherry on top’ image to the opposite corner.  I also added some flowers stamped from the ‘Itty Bitty Shapes Punch’ as the card looked a bit bare! I then added some pearl accents to the flowers just to add an extra dimension to the card.
