Magical day with Unicorns!

Hi everyone

I’ve had a nice couple of weeks off work and now coming back to reality with a bump! It was so nice to have some time off to relax and spend time with family and friends. I went to a few National Trust sites (historical buildings/garden for non-UK readers!), had afternoon tea, celebrated some birthdays, and went Mountain Biking for the first time with my Springer Spaniel, who loved the freedom and the speed! I also managed to get some gardening and crafting done.

As promised I’m bringing you another unicorn today. Once I got started with them I couldn’t stop! I’m addicted to the bright colours and fun theme.

For this one I wanted to make something a little different so decided to create a stitched pocket for the sentiment, and who doesn’t love a bit of bling!

Yellow and orange are not colours I tend to go automatically for when I’m crafting, so I have had to step out of my comfort zone slightly.  I’m loving the new ‘in colour’ that’s used on this card, Pineapple Punch, isn’t it beautiful?! The new ink pads are so nice to stamp with, no more inky fingers opening them!

My Christmas challenge

Yes I’m using the dirty word! At New Year I challenged myself to make a Christmas card a week so that I’m not panicking when the festivities roll around.  As expected I’m failing miserably at this! So I thought I’d mention it here so I have to be accountable and prove I’ve made this week’s card.  So far I’m 17 cards behind (ONLY!) so watch this space for progress updates! Why not join me and share your creations with me on my Facebook or Instagram page #samscraftythings

Magical Unicorns!

Hi everyone!

Today I’m sharing a card using my FAVOURITE stamp set (which is retiring…boo!!), in fact I have a few more to share with you over forthcoming blog posts! 🙂

Anyone who knows me will know how obsessed I am with unicorns, so this stamp was the obvious choice for me when I was wanting to make a few cards ready to send out to friends and family. I decided to play about with the Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Pencils and created the mane by using Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, and Bermuda Bay. I the created the shading with Basic Grey (although slightly overdid it!).

The background was created by sponging Melon Mambo on to the card stock, ensuring that I started on a piece of grip paper first to remove any dark ink blotches. I then gradually extended the colour further up the card until I was happy with the end result.

The ‘One of a Kind’ colour was created using the Stampin’ Up! Stampin’ Write Markers, by starting with the lightest colour and then quickly scribbling over with the two darker colours.

I hope you like today’s card.

Change is coming!

Hi everyone!

Last weekend was the bi-annual Stampin’ Up! Onstage Event, and the time we get to see the new catalogue before everyone else, all I can say is wow!

I didn’t take many photos as it was so busy, over 400 people in attendance!  I can’t share much, because we’re sworn to secrecy, but I can share some news.

That’s right! We’re having a HUGE colour revamp, which includes brand new ink pads! I’ve seen the new ink pads and they are so lovely to use!

Retiring colours

I am devastated that Island Indigo is leaving, but ecstatic that Blackberry Bliss is returning! How gorgeous are the new colours, I cannot wait to get my hands on them and get inking!

Not only have we had a colour shakeup, but the families have been shaken up too! I must admit these colours sit so much nicer together, Old Olive was too dark to be a bright!

A big welcome to the new In Colours as well, such a beautifully bright selection!

With all this change we have to say goodbye to some products to make way for the new.  The retiring lists are updated regularly on the site, which you can access here. Don’t miss out on these products, some of which will be offered at discounted prices!

Inspireink Blog Hop – February 2018

Hi everyone!

Welcome back to another Inspireink Blog Hop.  This months theme was picked by Helzie Lou, and she chose…27545078_399521137141569_7960417531145536564_n

The word instilled a lot of dread in a few of us! I haven’t done a detailed folded card in a long time, and have to admit I’ve enjoyed making this one, so thank you Helzie!

I’ve hardly used this stamp set, I’ve no idea why because it is adorable! I spotted this beautiful card by Michelle Last on Pinterest and just knew I had to CASE it (CASE – Create and Share Everything).

One of the Managers’ in my work has started the wind down into retirement and is now semi-retired, due to his role changing in the interim we felt he deserved recognition for the work he’d done previously.

Due to the amount of staff I felt that a simple card fold out would not hold enough space for comments and well wishes, and so I added a piece of card at the bottom of the card to hold a concertina stack of cards that can be signed.

I hope you like this month’s project. Please continue around the hop by clicking on the next button below.

InspireINK blog hop!

Hi everyone!

Happy New Year! The start of the year has been crazy busy for me and I’ve not had chance to do any crafting! I’ve had to force myself to have an evening in the craft room to get the project ready for the new and improved blog hop! You may remember that I said the format of the Simply Sketched Saturday challenge would be changing, well here we are! I’ve had fun creating the new graphics and introducing new members to the group, as well as continuing on with many familiar faces!

The theme this month was Shimmer, Sparkle, and Shine.  What can I say, glitter is not just for Christmas!

I had this idea in my head when I saw the Myths and Magic DSP and knew I wanted to create a game with it. The first idea I had was to create the card game “snap!”.

The images are so cute! Someone said to me that they were in the style of the Disney Sleeping Beauty film, and I have to agree!

I had to make sure the backs were identical so there’s no cheating!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the blog hop today, your next stop is the lovely Jill Chapman.
